Advocacy

At Denver Food Rescue (DFR), our mission goes beyond recovering surplus food and sharing it with our community. We are committed to driving systemic change by advocating for policies and initiatives that foster food justice, health equity, and sustainability.

Southwest Food Coalition (SWFC)

As a member of the Southwest Food Coalition (SWFC), DFR coordinates with over 40 partners in southwest Denver to address food system challenges. SWFC is a collaborative group of food champions working to increase food access for everyone in Southwest Denver. Our ongoing participation contributes to a collective vision of a food system that is community driven, resilient, strong, and efficient.

Provecho Collective

DFR is proud to support the Provecho Collective, formerly the Blueprint to End Hunger. Their new name reflects their expanded focus on food justice and food sovereignty, while their vision remains the same: a Colorado where everyone can access the food they choose, where they want it, and when they need it. DFR’s advocacy ensures that equity and sustainability remain central to achieving these ambitious goals.

Healthy Food For Denver's Kids (HFDK)

Children in Denver face disproportionately high rates of food insecurity, which impacts their health, education, and well-being. DFR actively supports initiatives like Healthy Food for Denver’s Kids (HFDK) to ensure that children have access to healthy, nutritious food. By advocating for universal school meals and supporting programs that provide resources to children, we work to ensure Denver’s kids have the nourishment they need to thrive.
