Que hacemos

Rescata alimentos frescos y saludables

Among the many components to be highlighted in DFR’s upcoming story products is the critical component is choice — what foods will my family need and desire?

Photo and recipe submission from one of our home d Photo and recipe submission from one of our home delivery food box families receiving high quality produce and staples from eastdenverfoodhub all with a choice in box style and contents! Here's what they had to say:

Our box couldn't have been more perfect!
I made the family #fishtacos ! Out of the box we have used the #cilantro, #rice, #onions, #tomatillo, #chilies, #tortillas, and #limes !!! So many limes!

Cilantro was used in the rice, beans, #guacamole, fish marinade, and as a garnish. Onion is in rice and salsa.

Tomatillos is in the roasted tomato and tomatillo salsa! My 5 year old (student at Smith Elementary) can't stop eating the salsa! The chilies serrano are in the salsa.

The limes are in everything! Marinate for fish, fish cooked with lime, in the rice, salsa, #beans, on the table and even in the #cabbage kale slaw!

From hungerfreeco: Urge Colorado leaders to fund S From hungerfreeco: Urge Colorado leaders to fund SNAP Outreach in the state budget

The Joint Budget Committee (JBC) is creating the state budget right now. They need to hear from you to make sure they don’t leave Coloradans struggling with hunger behind. Email members of the JBC and ask that they include $1.5 million for SNAP Outreach in the state budget.

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) provides funds for groceries to low-income households and serves as the first line of defense against hunger. Colorado’s SNAP Outreach Program works with more than 50 community-based organizations to connect eligible households to food assistance and facilitate their enrollment in SNAP. This is crucial, as about 40 percent of low-income Coloradans do not access the program due to barriers to access and lack of awareness.
