Sign up for Fresh Food Connect to donate your extra garden produce
Denver Food Rescue was proud to partner with Denver Urban Gardens and Groundwork Denver to bring you the Fresh Food Connect Web-App that brings healthy fresh produce to no cost grocery programs, reduces food waste, and provides jobs to youth. In 2018, Fresh Food Connect (FFC) became its own 501c3 with a mission to spread FFC chapters nation wide. To find out how to become an operator in your zip code (in any state!) please contact Helen, FFC’s interim CEO.
It’s so simple! Gardeners open the FFC web-app to indicate that they have extra vegetables, fruit, or even flowers to donate. The FFC web-app will map out a route for youth employees from Groundwork Denver to collect the donation using electric trikes. The produce is then donated to neighborhood with less access to fresh produce.
If you are a home or community gardener in 80207, 80205, 80220, 80210, 80212, 80221, 80211 DFR or Groundwork Denver will come right to your doorstep to pick up your garden grown produce and share it with community based organizations addressing food access in their neighborhoods!
Visit Fresh Food Connect to see sign up and get donating (season runs late June to early November). Interested in donating but don’t live in an area in which we currently pick up? Register anyway so we know where to expand to next!
Thank you Denver for all of your support on this innovative, collaborative project!
