Download the FFC app to donate your extra garden produce
Guess What!? In 2020 Denver Food Rescue’s operating chapter of Fresh Food Connect brought in over 4,000 pounds of fresh, hyperlocal produce for the Denver community. THANK YOU gardeners!
Perhaps it’s true that Covid encouraged home gardening as we nearly doubled our registered gardeners and donation pickups. This allowed us to open a second distribution in the Five Points!
Kicking off the season in late June with the support of the West Wash Park, Whittier, and San Rafael community gardens we distributed to 20-30 families each week until the beginning of October.
See you in June 2021
Fresh Food Connect utilizes technology to solve two problems — excess garden produce and food insecurity. If you have extra produce, you can schedule pickups via the Fresh Food Connect app. Then, our courier team will pick up the produce on bicycles and distribute it in local neighborhoods facing food insecurity.
If you are a home or community gardener in 80207, 80205, 80220, 80203, 80210, 80212, 80221, 80211 DFR or Groundwork Denver will come right to your doorstep to pick up your garden grown produce and share it with community based organizations addressing food access in their neighborhoods!
Visit Fresh Food Connect to see sign up and get donating (season runs late June to early November). Interested in donating but don’t live in an area in which we currently pick up? Register anyway so we know where to expand to next!
