Denver Food Rescue is pleased to announce that three No Cost Grocery Program partners have received NRDC Food Matters Funds Awards. As a result, these partners can hire additional staff, expand programming, and improve their facilities.
Birdseed Collective in Globeville is a non-profit community outreach organization that organizes arts and food programs. This includes a weekly, resident-led NCGP program with an emphasis on how to preserve food.
Sun Valley Kitchen + Community Center uses rescued food for their NCGP operations, community dinners, and events. The center facilitates healthy food access to over 100 people every week. The Sun Valley Kitchen restaurant also provides catering services.
The GrowHaus in Elyria-Swansea is a non-profit indoor farm, marketplace, and educational center. They host a weekly NCGP program and cooking class. With a focus on community-driven, neighborhood-based food systems, they serve as a hub for food distribution, production, education, and economic development.
The Natural Resources Defense Council is an international non-profit committed to protecting the health and well-being of people and the plant through science, law, and advocacy. They work in various areas including clean energy, protecting marine life, building climate resilience, and supporting communities. Last summer, NRDC began partnering with the City and County of Denver through Denver?s Food Action Plan 2020. Awards were provided by NRDC with support from The Rockefeller Foundation.
